This is a common lament that has come out of working with countless clients one on one. A powerful part of your healing lies in sharing this journey with a community of like-minded community with a common goal. In the words of Lindo Bacon:

It is a loss to leave the confines of diet culture, as much as it is harming you. And part of what gives you strength to take the leap in leaving an abusive relationship like that is knowing there is a new community, a safety net, a landing place to catch you and embrace you. This community of body liberation seekers is that landing place.
We have an epidemic of isolation.
Technology, the obsession with individuality and independence, and the decay of families and religious communities leave so many people feeling more alone that ever. And this takes a toll on health and contributes to worse mental health and the development of chronic disease. There is a trend occurring across the nation in moving toward group medical visits that teach people how to care for their health.
What is astonishing is that the research shows that the bonds and connections that form from the group dynamic is more therapeutic than the content of the visit delivered by the health professional. WHAT?! Yes.
You can be an instrumental part of another person’s healing from the wounds of diet culture.

THE DETAILS
Finding Food + Body Freedom Group Course – Part 1
What is included:
- 12 weekly virtual group visits over 3 months – 75-90 minutes
- Access to The Community Table Network of like-minded people
- A weekly live-stream weekly yoga class – all levels, with specific focus on developing attunement & a respectful relationship to your body.
- A weekly 15 minute guided meditation
- Optional 1:1 monthly session (additional fee, though it may be fully or partially covered by your insurance)

Tuesdays 5:30-7pm
Begins Jan 26th, 2020!
Attendance at sessions is necessary to gain the full benefit of this course.
All participants must have a discovery call with me to ensure the group is the best avenue for your healing.
Course Contents Include:
Weekly Group Sessions with be a combination of group discussion, education, time for reflection/writing, mindfulness practices, including mindful eating together. Most sessions will include ways to practice and explore the concepts from class more deeply on your own time.
MONTH 1 Theme: Relating to Ourselves & Our Bodies: Healing Body Image
Topics include seeing diet culture, thin privilege and weight stigma, why dieting doesn’t work, developing mindfulness, examining diet culture values vs authentic values, cultivating self-compassion, examining the unexpected harms of the “body-positivity” movement, learning body respect.
MONTH 2 Theme: Honoring Hunger & Getting to Know Your Biology
Topics include: learning about your metabolism, how to work with your biology rather than fight against it, how the body manages weight, exploring beliefs about hunger, learning to listen to and interpret your hunger cues.
MONTH 3 Theme: Rediscovering the Pleasure of Eating
Topics include: exploring relationship to pleasure, the neurochemistry of pleasure, the satisfaction factor of eating, sensory aspects of eating, mindful eating, exploring food rules, breaking free from guilt from eating, the roles of autonomy and rebellion in eating, experiencing the freedom of permission to eat.
PS- YES, Part 2 will follow right after! It will include topics like joyful movement, unpacking the connection between weight and health, feeling fullness, and emotional eating.
